Canberra Short Film Festival (CSFF) is an independently-run, local festival, supported by ASFF Inc., a not for profit body, and a group of wonderful sponsors and partners.

We are proud to screen the best of independent short films, from Australia, around the globe and right here in our hometown- the nation's capital.

The Canberra Short Film Festival celebrates short films and the creative voices that shape them. We screen films that challenge, delight, and inspire both audiences and filmmakers, championing strong storytelling, clear vision, and originality. CSFF is a welcoming, filmmaker-forward festival that values craft, community, and meaningful connection.

Now in our 31st year, this competition-based festival runs over a 7 day program including; screenings, industry networking sessions, Q&As and panel discussions. Culminating in our awards night where we announce winning filmmakers across categories, celebrating their craft.

Our panel of carefully selected judges look for films of any genre and style that exhibit elements of - we prioritise clarity of vision, storytelling craft, and audience impact; up to 20 minutes in length and completed within the last 18-months.
​
With 12 categories to submit in, ranging from; from 2-Minute Film to Music Video, Experimental to Documentary. There is no limit to your storytelling or expressive style. To learn more, head to our FILM CATEGORIES page.
